You have probably heard this a thousand times, but I genuinely cannot believe that 2018 is here. 2017 was a year of whirlwinds for me and at the beginning of the year I had no idea where my path would take me. However, all I knew was that I was going to do something for me.

The beginning of the year was full of extreme emotions, I had finished university and I had to now start my official career - well that’s what I thought.

However, a few obstacles were put in my way lets say, meaning this could not be fulfilled. I was pretty much fired from my job and I felt the life that I had planned came to a complete halt, which left me feeling the most vulnerable and scared in all my life.

On the other hand, I did have a little spark that was ignited and I knew I had to bring this to the forefront. Teaching me when life brings unexpected events that you didn’t necessarily plan to happen, you just have to find that fire inside you to help you power through. All of this happened in February, so I had the rest of the year to prove to myself that I could do whatever I wanted.

That is when my business came alive and the planning, dreaming and strategising took place. I thought there was no other time to do this, and if I was in the position to risk it all and put my everything into something that I have always dreamed of there was no time like the present.

Anyway, how does this link in with my goals for this year? Well, I have never actually once in my life set a ‘New years resolution’ or ‘Goal’. Don’t ask me why, but I never really saw the point, as I was plodding through school, sixth form and then university. But right now it couldn’t be more relevant and vital for me to set myself some personal and business goals to help me thrive and do the absolute best I can this year. Plus, I not only want to make a statement to the one particular man that told me setting up this business would be “The biggest f***ing mistake of my life”. I also wanted to prove to myself I CAN DO THIS and anything if I put my mind to it.

So this is not only a blog post to share my goals with you all (as personally I love reading others) but it’s a big f**k you back to all the people that have ever doubted me in my life. (hehe)

As I said, I have never set myself goals before but I really wish that I did, because it makes you motivated and can really help set out your year. So if you are wondering why we should do this, then see it as a guideline and a little path to help you follow throughout the year. They don’t mean you HAVE to achieve all of them by the end of the year, but it’s nice to have them there to help you realise what you want from yourself and your life. They just kind of give you purpose I feel, and if you think you aren’t going to achieve a goal half way through the year and think “Shit girl, you were a bit ambitious” just take it off your list. It’s that simple.

I have actually separated my goals into business and personal – just so it’s a little bit more organised for you.

This first goal is something I have dreamed of since I thought of starting this business, and it’s definitely something I am reminded of most weeks. As when I speak to people, it’s always an answer when I am questioned whether I would like a shop. I don’t actually like the thought of having one shop in one place forever, so being able to pop up all over the place is just so exciting to me. Being able to be there one minute and then gone, I think it adds to the magic of an online brand.

I actually have my first pop up event in a coffee shop at the beginning of Feb in my hometown of Sherborne. I am so excited, and cannot wait to meet new people through this. So, if you are local to the area then keep an ear/eye out and be sure to come and say hi, as I would love to meet some of you!

This might sound a bit of a superficial thing for you, however this is something I would love to do. Not only to help grow my business, but I want to blog a lot more this year – so as a result having a bigger social media following I feel like I will be able to help so many people believe in themselves if they too are wanting to set up their own business. It has personally helped me so much being able to follow others journeys, as it has not only given me inspiration – but has allowed for myself to realise that anything is possible if I put the work in. So I want to be that for other people too. Basically I’m just saying lets all be #GIRLBOSSES in some sort of way together.

So this one is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I have watched YouTube videos for years and years, and love watching other people’s lives in vlogs, watching makeup tutorials and just being nosy as to what they have been buying. I did actually set up a YouTube channel when I was 19 (I’m now 23) and absolutely loved it. However, my confidence was knocked when I saw someone take the mick out of me on social media (well I thought so at the time). But, I just stopped straight away. Now I am that little bit older, I’ve learnt not to care but to just do what makes you happy. So hopefully that attitude continues so you can see more videos on my YouTube channel –

It is obvious that when someone sets up a business they put their own money into it, or get a loan from the bank. I did the first, so seven months in I am so close to breaking even, I think I need one or two months and I will be there. I’m so excited for this day, and that will be my motivation to keep going, as it is pretty rare for a business to break even in the first year of trading. Yay!

So this is linked to the last goal, I wanted to break even before I could start paying myself a set wage per month. I obviously have been able to pay myself certain amounts here and there to keep me going. However, to be able to know what is coming in every month excites the hell out of me. I really hope I will be able to do this in 2018.

With what I do, I obviously need to have an eye for the camera. So setting myself this goal will not only allow me at the end of the year to look back at all I have done throughout the year. But it will help me develop those skills and give me a bank of photos that I can potentially use for my business. Plus I want to be able to put more pictures around my house – so this will give me a reason to print them all out!

As I get older I know how important it is to look after my skin. My mum has always looked after hers really well and has the most amazing skin and it’s kind of ingrained in me to do the same. So this year I want to keep on using the skin regime I have been using since the first week in Jan. Including all the vital steps such as facial oil and eye cream to keep my skin looking good. I used some money I got for Christmas to splurge on things I wouldn’t necessarily buy such as the Clairns Blue Orchid Oil – I love it so much already!! So if you have any money left over from Christmas, or have a birthday coming up – I would recommend splurging on something that will make you want to stick to a good skin routine.

This might seem a little odd to any of you that don’t know me, as you will see my face plastered all over my website and my Instagram. Also, if you watch any of my videos I probably seem quite a confident person, and I am to a certain extent. However, I really do lack this sometimes and with every single photo I upload I am never truly happy with them and always pick faults. It actually took a lot for me to be the one modelling – as if you followed me from the beginning you will know I used a different model. However, many people just said it would make sense if I modelled as it was my business and people are essentially buying from me. Not only do I lack confidence in that area, but also it is also to do with confidence in making decisions and meeting people. I am the biggest worrier known to man, so I feel if I help improve my confidence I can do these things a lot better.

Travelling is my favourite thing to do as there is nothing more exciting than exploring a new place. There are so many dream destinations I would like to visit, so I would love to get a few of those ticked off my list this year. (Boyfriend if you are reading this – let’s get planning!)

So if you don’t know, Tom is my boyfriend. He has been one of the biggest support networks throughout my whole university degree, setting up this business and just life in general since I met him. I honestly mean it when I say I don’t think I would be where I am now if it wasn’t for him. He pushes me to be the best I can be, and always helps me in anyway he can. Plus, he has taken me on some of the most amazing holidays and trips that I couldn’t be more thankful for. So, just to show him that I obviously love him and that I am beyond grateful for his on-going support – I want to be able to treat him to a trip away where he doesn’t have to pay for anything. I know money and things like that don’t mean anything reallt – but being able to take him somewhere he has always wanted to go excites me, and I have wanted to do this since the first year we were together.

This is probably the simplest of goals I could have set myself, but I think it is going to be the most effective. When you are feeling low, unmotivated and even frustrated. The best thing you can do for yourself and your mental state is to go on a walk. The fresh air and exercise can help massively, and when I have my mum who goes on a walk every day with our family dog Alfie – I shouldn’t really have an excuse not to! Mum – If you are reading this, make sure I stick to it!

Okay, so that is all of my goals for the year of 2018. I know it was a bit of a lengthy one so bravo if you have read right to the end! And if you have scrolled just to see the highlights of the goals – then bravo to you too for having the patience.

I can’t wait to see what this year has in store and I hope this year bring you all nothing but happiness and success. Remember you can do anything you put your mind to because every girl has an inner girlboss. If you have any goals – then I would love to hear yours so let me know in the comments.

I love you all loads,
